When to change your locks

  • Moving in. Previous owners, tenants, cleaners and builders may still have keys.
  • Lost or stolen keys. Especially if they were with something showing your address.
  • After a break-in. We secure the door the same visit, which your insurer will want to see.
  • Upgrading security. Older locks often fall short of what home insurance policies now require.

Locks that satisfy insurers

Many home insurance policies ask for a BS3621 five-lever mortice deadlock on wooden doors, and an anti-snap euro cylinder on uPVC and composite doors. Check your policy wording; we can fit the right lock.

Knowing that finding a qualified locksmith can be like the wild west we asked our neighborhood watch for recommendations. Accredited Locksmiths were recommended by three people. David was a true professional and spent over two hours sorting out quite a complex issue with our door lock.

This company was recommended to me by Timpsons. Booked an appointment, arrived on time and carried out the work quickly and efficiently.

Common questions

Can you make all my doors use one key?

Yes. Cylinders and many mortice locks can be keyed alike, so one key opens every outside door.

Is a cylinder change enough on a uPVC door?

Usually yes. On uPVC and composite doors, the euro cylinder is the part the key operates, so replacing it changes who can get in.

Which brands do you fit?

Union, Yale, ERA, Legge, Asec, Ingersoll and EVVA, among others.
